A Major Key In Overcoming Depression and Anxiety

Hi and welcome, it’s Marie here and
welcome to the second Overcome Depression + Thrive Livestream. It’s
great to have you here! Now, in today’s livestream I’m gonna be revealing how
the brain “triggers” the chemical imbalance that’s commonly associated
with depression and anxiety. You’re going to discover what’s going on “behind the
scenes” within our brain when we hold onto negative or fear-based thoughts and
I’m also going to be sharing a simple, yet, highly-effective technique that’s
been proven by the latest neuroscience to quite literally rewire the brain to
help reverse depression and anxiety. Sound good?
Well, let’s get started! So, I just want you to imagine that you’re drawing a
line through your eye, from front to back and then I want you to draw another line
through your ear. Now, where these two lines intersect is the home of a very
special, tiny structure which has the power to transform your entire life,
mentally emotionally and physically. It also has the power to either, keep you
stuck in depression or anxiety or free you from these less than optimal states.
It all depends upon how we use it. And, this tiny yet, very powerful structure
is called your amygdala and we have one on the right and one on our left
side within our brain. Now, simply put the amygdala is a structure within our brain
which is said to be responsible for the processing of our emotions, our survival
instincts, our memory and many, many other functions. Now, let me just put this image
up on the screen just give me two minutes. All right, so hopefully you can see the
image on the screen, right… This image will help you to
understand what’s really going on behind the scenes within our brain when we hold
onto negative or fear-based thoughts and how the brain actually triggers the
chemical imbalance commonly associated with the likes of depression or anxiety.
So, here’s the deal… Anytime we hold onto negative or
fear-based thoughts or feelings, whether consciously or even unconsciously, our
amygdala gets activated inside our brains. It just lights up! Now, why does
this happen and why is this vital to be aware of if we want to overcome the
likes of depression or anxiety? Well, simply put our amygdala gets activated because it believes that all of these negative or fear-based thoughts and
feelings are a definite sign of danger or impending doom within our environment. So, to protect us it activates and then it sends a signal down our spine to tell
our fight/flight system to turn on and then BOOM! Our Survival Center gets
activated. Now, if you’ve watched my FREE Masterclass, the term Survival Center
will be very familiar to you and you’ll also be aware that the activation of our
Survival Center means that we quite literally see off “chemical chaos” or a
“chemical storm” throughout our entire body-mind system, which if not stopped
will drive us into the likes of depression, anxiety or it may even cause
us to experience autoimmune conditions along with, a wide range of digestive,
reproductive and sexual disorders. Now, as daunting or as scary as all of
this “chemical chaos” may seem, it’s not as bad as it seems.
You see, if we just go back and check out this image once again. Can you see, that
the power is firmly within our hands to change it? In fact, just at a quick glance
we can see that we have at least two options available to us, if we want to
reverse all of this “chemical chaos” and overcome the likes of depression and
anxiety. The first, is that we simply need to remove the negative thought or
feeling which is the very thing which set off this domino effect of “chemical
chaos” in the first place. Because, removing the cause, instantly transforms
the outcome. It’s the simple laws of cause and effect, right? But, even if it’s
too late, let’s say, we’ve thought the thoughts, that we’ve thought and we’ve
triggered this entire process of “chemical chaos” within our system it’s
okay, all is not lost. Because, we can still reverse it. All it
takes is for us to simply deactivate our amygdala and our Survival Center using
proven methods and once we do that, once we “dial down” these systems, our entire
body-mind system will relax and return to its optimal, depression-free, anxiety-free state. Which is exactly what we want! But, the question is… How do we do it?
How do we start reversing this “chemical chaos” which has been “set off” by the
activation of our amygdala and Survival Center? Well, that’s exactly what I walk

through proven methods to deactivate your Survival Center, so you can start
controlling your internal chemistry rather, than it controlling you!

really quick and easy, proven way to not only, calm all of those incessant
thoughts we have in depression but also calm down the activation of our Survival
Center. So, when you complete this following technique, it’s like hitting
two birds with one stone. You’re calming those thoughts which can “set off” your
amygdala, which in turn, “sets off” your Survival Center and you’re also calming
your Survival Center. So, this one technique can help you attack the
“chemical chaos” which is occurring from both ends, from it’s starting point and from
its result. So, here are the steps… First you simply want to make yourself
comfortable, close your eyes and take seven long deep breaths.
Now, by long deep breaths, I mean that you wanna breathe in deeply through your
nostrils, make sure you keep your mouth closed and do your best to feel the
breath reach deep down into your abdomen. If you can’t do that, don’t stress, don’t
force anything. This can take practice if we haven’t
breathed deeply or even correctly for a very long period of time. Which
unfortunately, most of us don’t breathe correctly in the West, especially if
we’ve been stuck in the likes of depression or anxiety for any length of
time. So, this is something that we need to practice but your aim here, is to
simply feel as though you’re filling the entire abdomen and the chest cavity with air so that they expand as much as possible
for you. Now, this isn’t a competition. There’s no right or wrong way to do this.
Just simply keep your eyes closed and feel as though you’re completely filling
your lungs up with air. Now, as you breathe in, just hold the breath briefly.
Just for a second and then, as you breathe out, release the breath calmly
and slowly through your mouth. Now, you wanna do your best to
completely empty out all the air from your lungs and this can be made easier
by simply pulling in your abdomen gently as you slowly breathe out. Then, breathe
in and fill your entire abdomen, once again and after completing this cycle of
seven long, deep, slow breaths, I want you to simply allow your body to just take
over the natural breathing process. Just allow your breath to start flowing
naturally without any interference as you gently, turn all of your attention
inwards and become completely aware of the
natural rhythm of your breathing. With your eyes closed, just simply watch your breathing. Now, what does watching your breathing really mean? Well, I mean with
your eyes closed simply observe the natural rhythm of your
breath, see it flow in and out and if possible, feel the incoming breath
flowing in past the inner linings of your nostrils and as you breathe out,
follow that breath outwards, see it move out into the world around you and
eventually dissolve. Begin to see and feel your breath, as the only thing that
exists in your world, when you do this technique. Nothing else matters to you in
this moment. Just follow each and every breath and its movement in and out. Keep
your focus entirely on the rhythm of your breathing and after some practice,
if you want to elevate this technique even more, then as you breath in and
you’re feeling that air, flow in through your nostrils, feel as though you’re
breathing in peacefulness and tranquility and as you breathe out, feel
as though you’re breathing out all of your tensions, all of your worries and
all of those concerns. Be with your breathing as long as possible. Place all
of your awareness on your breath and simply allow each and every breath to
refresh your mind, body and spirit and once you feel calm, rested and
rejuvenated, gently open your eyes and continue your day feeling more refreshed
and relaxed. Now, the great thing about this technique is not only is it really,
really simple, so anyone can do it but your breath is with you, every single
moment, of every single day, so you can complete this technique anytime you like
to instantly calm the chaos of the mind or deactivate and calm your amygdala and
your Survival Center. So, do give it a go so you can see and feel the positive
benefits for yourself. Now, I would just like to take a moment now to emphasize,
that to begin with distracting thoughts will rise within the mind, when you
start doing this technique and that’s okay. It’s natural. It’s the nature of the
mind. So, don’t struggle with any thoughts or try and push any thoughts away
because anytime we tense up and stress about something we’re gonna activate our
amygdala and our Survival Center, so just allow any thoughts to “pass through” your
mind, as if they’re clouds floating across the sky. Just visualize the
thoughts simply “floating through” the mind. Yes, you are aware of them but
you’re not becoming entangled in them, you’re not interacting with
them, just allow yourself to keep that distance from them, in the very same way
that distance or space is kept between you and the clouds that float
through the sky. Now, if you’ve watched my previous livestream, you’ll already know
why we need to stop interacting with any unwanted or negative thoughts if we want
to free ourselves from depression. So, just allow any thoughts, whether they’re
good, bad or ugly, it doesn’t matter just allow them “free passage” through your mind without any interference or any judgments and over time, you will see
something really, really magical happen. Not only, will your incessant thoughts
calm down but they will completely change their essence or their quality.
You will no longer have a quantity of thoughts but quality thoughts. And, it’s
all been achieved without too much effort on your part. And, I don’t know about you but less effort, for more results sounds good to me!
