Headache after an Adjustment? Here is why. Upland Claremont Cucamonga Chiropractor

– Hello, I’m Dr. Tony,
to answer the questions why you have headaches
after an adjustment. Okay, on both sides of your neck, you have arteries that go from your heart through the front of your neck, also the back of your neck, too. So two in the front, two in the back. The front ones have what’s called a carotid sinus on both sides. They control your blood flow to your head, like a thermostat controls your
heating or air conditioning. So what happens is those carotid sinuses, when you’re under stress, the
tension in your neck nerves are firing, causing neck pain. Those same nerves make those
arteries in your neck constrict to not allow blood flow
to your actual head. What happens is when you
have and get adjusted, when you get an adjustment,
the nerves will relax. Those nerves are like
connected to that carotid sinus and make that sinus actually relax, too, making vaso, it’s called vasodilate. Blood flows right to your head, and it overflows sometimes,
causing head pressure or even a headache for one or two. That’s what happens. You get adjusted and
cause a headache that way. Our job is to realize,
okay, is it a headache from that, dissipates over a couple hours, so that is normal, people. So getting a headache after an adjustment is normal over time. All right, so I hope
that makes sense to you, hope that clarifies any
questions you people have. Does adjustment cause headaches? Sometimes it can, temporarily,
if you have neck issue controlling this carotid sinus.
