Searching for prevention mental health research

Hello, I’m Sarah Dawson, I’m an
information specialist with the Common Mental Disorders Group and I’m going to
talk about the challenges in searching for trial reports for prevention reviews.
There’s challenges for looking for the evidence for any kind of systematic
review, but with prevention reviews you’ve not got a diagnosed clinical
disease (or disorder) so often you have to think about the antecedents
of a common mental disorder. What are the psychosocial, environmental, or physical
health conditions that might proceed common mental disorder. So when you’re
trying to design the search you often have to think about those terms, because
when we’re searching the databases you’ve not got full
text you just got a summary. So prevention reviews can be far more
challenging than just looking for, a you know, a diagnosed disorder rather than
thinking around what might proceed that disorder. you
